Obstinance By Higher Ed Officials Will Just Make Things Worse
Outgoing University System Chancellor Mark Haggerot's approach to backing up outgoing DSU President Stephen Easton will not make the situation better, and further illustrates the need for oversight.
There is a vacuum of leadership in North Dakota in recent months, it doesn’t take much to figure out why. What that has led to is yet another flare-up crisis in North Dakota’s higher education system.
Earlier this week, we learned that Dickinson State University President Stephen Easton announced that he was resigning do to conflict between himself, the faculty of DSU’s Nursing Department, the North Dakota Board of Nursing.
In his resignation statement/video, Easton stated:
The North Dakota Board of Nursing has prohibited me, and the other administrators at DSU, from even trying to find new faculty members for DSU’s Nursing students.
In response, the North Dakota Board of Nursing releases a statement all-but saying Easton was lying:
Contrary to the statement of Stephen Easton, President of Dickinson State University (DSU), the North Dakota Board of Nursing (ND BON) DID NOT force Stephen Easton’s resignation, nor did it disallow the hiring of a nurse administrator or faculty by DSU.
